My new journey with camera and pen is going spectacularly. Spent my first week traveling around Colorado with my dogs where we enjoyed lots of great southwestern weather, landscapes and wildlife. This time of year marks a ramp up in migration, mating and first babies of the season. Owlets were on the nest in Fort Collins. Osprey have returned to Longmont and Fort Collins. Sage grouse were mating near Craig. Pronghorn antelope were gathering in herds. Rumors of fox kits are starting to spread. Mountain bluebirds have made their way to the higher elevations. Snow and spring greens are beginning to mix. Western meadowlarks have returned with their beautiful melodies. Great blue herons are rebuilding their nests. Sandhill cranes have refueled in the San Luis Valley as they continue to move north to nest. I love spring.
